Manhole Repairs Updates September 2018

All the manholes in Bishops Court were really in a bad state when InfraPlex started the fibre instalation at Bishops Court.

The manholes had to be redone as 60 of the 100 manholes were in a bad condition, not accessible or buried deeper than 1m under ground or paved over in some instances. No maintenance was done over the years on the existing manholes.

Approval from the body corporate HOC of Bishops Court was given the go ahead to repair of these manholes in early June.

The Fibre company Infraplex installed the Fibre backbone, started in mid January 2018 and went live on the fibre backbone, on the 1st of May 2018 all the manholes in Bishops Court were opened and all were rebuilt. The process had been delayed as Infraplex had first outsourced the manhole repairs to a 3rd party contractor. The contractor had 2 months to repair all the manholes and by the beginning of August 2018 the 3rd party contractor only completed about 75% of the manholes. The third party was taken off the job early August and InfraPlex had taken over the last part of the manhole rebuild. All cleanup will be done by the end of October.

The 1st four manhole covers has been cast and the rest will follow rapidly.
